Google Earth Maps stuck initialising

Did a search couldn't find anything obviously the same on forum... Today my Google Earth Maps never completed off the initialisation screen (the one that sometimes comes up, see pictures. Despite several restarts and driving for nearly on hour. Progress bar gets to the end. My Audi Connect etc licences are still valid, although due up end of year and are current being renewed by dealer. I've asked them if they know what's up but any ideas / tips to fix welcome... Normal loaded maps (2018) work fine, as does other Connect services like weather etc. Mine's MY16 so have my own SIM in.

Has your license expired & need renewing? Could also be that Google is no longer supported on some models - so mine a MY16 at the end of December loses Google Earth overlay

All good at the moment - including Google to 31/12/20... unless they've pulled it... You got some official info link on what you mention re looses Google Earth overlay as I remember some chat about that ages ago but it's been working fine all year. (I did a licence refresh to check).

I rang Audi CS not knowing about the charging bits in the link above coming in. they informed me that for my car Google overlay will no longer be available from the expiry date on 31st Dec.

They have also started to finally charge for extending the other licenses.

Tried mine earlier on this evening....stuck on initialising as well. So either a glitch or they’ve taken it away sooner than planned?

Um. Thanks for checking. It does sound like maybe it’s not just me. I’ll see what dealer says on Monday maybe try CS as well. Bummer I just LOVE google earth in the virtual cockpit with small dials it’s just so nice. I tried google maps on apple CarPlay earlier it’s ok you can get the earth satellite view but of course doesn’t appear in VC as whilst on CarPlay the VC just shows a compass.

Other possibly related fact is my cars pretty much exactly 5yrs old this weekend. But I would have thought it was based on the licence date.

I Contacted Audi Digital Services about this three months ago. Mentioned in another thread.
They told me that there was a software update for the car to enable Google maps after 12/20.
Even booked my car in at the local dealers to have update installed.
Came back the same , Dealer said they had no idea what I was talking about and no update was available.
Re-contacted Audi and awaiting response?
Read on other forums that some different models have had this done? Hopefully the Q7 is on the list of To-Do.
Personally after the merry dance I've been on I wouldn't hold your breath!
