    Greetings

My gf has new beetle 2001 with 1.6 8v 75kw petrol engine, car started smoking and failed MOT emissions test, the smoke is pure white , reaka of petrol

I changed catalyst and both lambda's (original bosch) , i removed cylinder head and replaced valve steams and head gasket, also changed intake manifold seal rubbers

Engine works fine, car pulls good but its smoking alot, white smoke with petrol smell... there are no error codes with vcds

On MOT emission test there is very high CO which indicates too rich (too much fuel in air fuel ratio)

Im currently stuck and have no ideas, hoping someone can help me solve this nightmare : D

    Best Regards

If it is that rich it has to be storing a fault code, what are you using to read the codes? Is it using oil or coolant?

Fuel pressure regulators very rarely cause problems.

Anything like that and the pre and post cat Lambda sensors will pick it up. Have you had a fault code for the tank vent system? Which engine type code, AWH or AYD?
