    VW GOLF MK5 1.6 petrol

I have an issue with the brakes, spongy pedal when you push it and it its sinking down but not all way down.
Don't have any issue when braking but it doesn't feel right. Just completed a ABS flush and previously 3-4 bleeding brakes with pressure bleeding, conventional method (2 persons) but all failed, still spongy until half the way of the pedal when braking.

So I called VW to sneak the part number for the master brake cylinder and the guy made my life miserable.

There are 2 different parts of master brake cylinder 1K1614019 (K) OR (F).
He told me that the part number should be on the MBC.

I haven't disassembly it yet cause I need to move the car from the parking so I tried to take pictures but I couldn't find any part number except some crappy alienated numbers. In the front of the MBC it says W2006 JT8 and under it has 48 (1/6) 22 F6

And the brake fluid reservoir have the part number 1K1 611 301 C (maybe if the reservoir is different on each K or F model)

Can somebody help me decipher the numbers to an VW OEM part number?
    Thank you!

I had max 9-10 psi not to blow the MBC internal seals.

    Hi Panozzi

Sorry to hear you’re having troubles.

Sounds like you had a bad experience with the VW parts department.

Looking at ETKA there appear to be a few different variants.

Can you confirm your exact model you have (you can send me a PM with reg and VIN to check if you like).

It also helps to have the vehicle data card that has all the PR codes.

Looking at ETKA there are the following options:

    note
    ATE
    model
    PR-1ZC,1ZE,1ZF,1ZP,1ZD,1LJ

    1K1 614 019 K
    1K2 614 019 B

    model GTI+
    PR-1AC,1AT,1LL

    1K1 614 019 A
    1K2 614 019 C

    note
    BOSCH
    lhd
    model
    PR-1ZC,1ZE,1ZP,1ZD

Think yours will be either the top 2 as other is LHD.

From checking the parts they gave to you it appears the top option is yours. Though part numbers slightly different.

Still doesn’t help you regarding which variant you require (K or F level)...

Best is to get part off and check.

The brake fluid reservoir is the same from what I can see on ETKA.

When your IQ is equal to an VW Master Brake Cylinder!

Ok, Tried ETKA, local dealer and also found a new clue on the MBC a stamp with ATE.

The local VW dealer said exactly what I already knew.
VIN and PR number gives 2 different MBC a selection of (1K1614019) K or F. So back to square 1 again.
I also got an answer from the ATE manufacturer that the stamp on the MBC forge is a production number and cannot be tracked to what sort or part number it is.

Then I just revealed to myself how f.... stupid am I?

ETKA says K for ATE and F for BOSCH. And I have a small stamp with the logo ATE so....................

My IQ was below a VW Master brake cylinder! I hope this reversed clue will help others too.

Thank you all for the support!
