The door receives its instructions via a digital CAN BUS signal from the central convenience system to the door controller which is also the window lifter unit and this controls all the door functions except the speakers.

Replaced the door locks from with parts from a Mk6 (3D2 837 015 K, 7L0 837 016 D), I couldn't afford to pay for new genuine so had to go for breakers part.....

and this has solved the problem....

the fault codes for front passenger and rear right passenger have gone....

I am not expecting them to last but least they're not as old as the ones that were on there.

Only one problem that I've found on the rear right door is the exterior handle isn't sitting how it did before, its sticking out more / overflush by at least 5mm....

Im not sure i have got it located correctly with the metal interior bracket thats sits behind the door skin....

It's a bit of pain to get it aligned correctly......

Thinking I may have bent some of the interior locating brackets for this part (1K0 837 886 A - SUPPORT WITH HOLE FOR LOCK CYLINDER).....

Manged to get the screw aligned (N90897604) and in OK so can't be far off.

Any advice? What's best way to fit the exterior handle (3B0 837 205 F) into the lock cylinder support (1K0 837 886 A)?

Ok managed to get this sorted. You have to set the spring on the internal bracket before fitting the door skin back on.

Hold the sprung part back whilst locking it into position using the locking ring for the lock barrel / blank.....

When you go to tighten it up (locking ring via key hole access in door) it releases the sprung part and hey presto you have an operating exterior handle.

What is really annoying is when you wind the ring rotating screw out too far and you here ping as the ring drops inside the door... especially nasty on a Golf 4. We had to replace the retaining frame on a Golf 5 R32 a few days ago, the ring would not grab the the barrel.

I'm curious if you tried to contact a locksmith to see what's up with your lock?
Once I tried to change the lock by myself. I bought the lock that came with a guide with comprehensive information. I had issues with removing the old lock. At this point, I called the most popular locksmiths e11 agency for help. I didn't expect they'll remove the old, rusted lock so fast with no scratches on the door. I know they have many subsidiaries all over UK and USA. Go ahead and check them out!
