    Hi.

Just picked up Mk8 and have noticed that we are unable to get the satnav map to appear in the instrument cluster. According to the manual it should be one if the screens when you cycle through using the “view” button on the steering wheel. We get the normal dials screen and the drive assist screen, but what should have the satnav map just displays a speed counter which can’t be changed no matter what button is pressed.

Am I missing something obvious or does it sound it sound like a software issue. It’s got version 1644 which I think is the latest.

Any assistances would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    David

According to my dealer, the first mk8 Golfs came with Discover Pro free of charge.. I have a life spec from March this year and can get maps on instrument cluster and infortainment at the same time.

When I last spoke with my dealer because of of the lack of folding mirrors, he said the specs seem to be in constant flux/dispute, one thing he mentioned is that newer styles will not come navigation as standard. He told me this as if it were somehow make me be happier about my mirrors not folding.
I'm not a fan of how VW keep adjusting specs. It's causing a lot a confusion.

Yeah my dealer tried to sell the nav over the folding mirrors. Told him no thanks.

Looking at changing my Passat at the minute and they've gone from digital dash back to analogue. Digital is now a Ł2k option which would put the car as over Ł40k new!

They don't have a clue what they're doing at the minute from the look of it.

Agreed. And anyway, on a car costing nearly Ł30k, both should be standard.

so it is confirmed that the Discovery media is just as capable as the Pro at displaying the navigation maps on both screens. VW have disabled it on the software side. Vag Italy and others, with a Discovery Media, were able to enable the navigation display on the instrument cluster and have it displayed on both screens.
Thay also were able to add the instrument clusters visible only on Gti, R, GTD on a Golf 8 Life. Tested and working great. The video is in Italian but it gives you an idea of what is possible.

Very nice. Looking forward to someone having a go. I thought it might be a case of software. The clocks are really disappointing compare to the active info display on my Passat

    Thanks for this!
Just notice the steering wheel buttons look different to my MK8. These seem much more like actual defined buttons rather than the subtle "thud" buttons I have. Any ideas about how the features in the video can be unlocked?
