Auto gearbox on 2013 avant and general buying advice

Hi all.

It’s been a while so just looking for some advise please. Currently looking at an A4 avant 150ps with what I assume is the CVT/ Multitronic gearbox. Have these box’s improved over time or are they still problematic?

What should I look out for when test driving?

I have had one in a B6 a few years back which needed replacing at 22k miles, just over three years old! That one was obvious as it lunged forward at random points. The thread might still be on here somewhere.....

Any other general advise on common issues would be welcome.

Hi, i Drive a B8 with the multitronic and i have to say it is very smooth, when i got it the adaptation was way off but a quick reset in VCDS sorted that. In a 2013 car you might be into the S-Tronic box which i know little about but i believe it is the VW DSG under another name, which should be better than the multitronic due to the history of issues i'm sure you are aware of, some more recent may be maintenance related though so watch that too, good gearbox history!

Thanks JimA4B6. Brought the car and it’s definitely a CVT per log book but it’s had the oil changes at the right intervals so hopefully it’ll be ok ��. Not sure I know what to look for re adaptation though? What are the symptoms? Seems smooth enough and not missing a beat in the 300 miles or so I’ve driven it.

Mine was a little hesitant at taking off from a halt and even more obvious when on an incline, it was the same with my 1.8T. glad you like the motor any mods planned?

Will watch out for that! It’s an SE Tech so LED lights at the front are on the agenda! I have a MyCarly adapter/subscription so plan to have a look around the code-able options, not thought beyond that tbh! Any recommendations?

Cool im sure there is plenty to play with on the dash etc, i activated the directional parking sensors on screen and needle sweep etc you may be up the years enough to activate Audi drive select also! i also put led reverse bulbs in as they're easy and led fog lights. From experience i'd also try a DPF cleaner if she feels any way sluggish and then some ultimate diesel every other tank to keep her in good shape. Good luck with her man lovely cars!
