Well got my car back tonight from independent... much lighter wallet after oil change service and pads all round
Good service yes... but failed to identify any fault on alarm, so will use my newly purchased CTEK charger to see if battery issue
What I was really annoyed about was they pulled the jacks out of the front and rear dash cams the unit is mounted close to rear view mirror so is a mare to get them back in... they will be getting some customer service advice tomorrow

Mechanics don’t like dash cams... do you like being video'd as you work?

Got nothing to hide ?... I can accept that ...what I don’t accept is leaving them unplugged... I don’t see why a cloth over the camera would not do the job of sparing the mechanics blushes

It is not necessarily the video they are trying to hide, have you ever heard a grease monkeys working language, it would make a navvy blush!

Well apart from the Dash-cam incident when I got car home I realised the aftermarket immobiliser was not working so took car to the guy who installed it... he scratched his head and could only think it was some sort of power spike... will never really know but after removal and reset it’s fully functional again... could be unfortunate coincidence but just makes me seriously suspicious
Thankfully the installer has done work on my last 4 cars and installed the dash cams so he charged a nominal amount for his time

I have had a couple of instances of Scorpion Sterling Excel Transponder immobilisers lock up and only come back to life after being powered down but they failed immobilized which was very awkward when one did it as I was parked in the drop off/pick up at the train station collecting the customer... very confidence inspiring!

yes at least mine failed disarmed

Have put the CTEK trickle charger on now... only lights up to stage 3 of 7 so looks like my original issue is battery drain thro lack of use and the car warning me
Will see if this cures it

I was trying to order an immobilser a few weeks ago and Scorpion were out of stock due to the high demand from customers with modern keyless cars (especially Audi) to stop them getting nicked... I never thought I would see aftermarket immobilisers make a comeback.

The manufacturer should put suitable security on performance cars
Having said that if you go aftermarket and don’t put stickers in the window it will keep the muppets guessing
