The main thing in there make me hesitate to switch is that it reads as if the wear figures are for pistons, not the cams which AIUI see very different conditions. If there were specific results for the PV5106 measurements that would seal it for me.

Higher group oil basestock groups 4 and 5 is what is in Ester Racing marketed oil which anti wear should be as good or off the scale .

Considering 5W30 507.00 has these two oil basestocks and where it gets it's superior film strength from and 5W40 505.01 has just group 3 which although is allowed to be called a synthetic is actually a severely hydrocracked mineral oil , it's a no brainer .

I've been running a supermarket 507.00 for 8 years in my 180 bhp 2003 1.9 PD , now 186K .
