During driving in the dark it would be handy that the 3 turn knobs (heat, fan speed and fan direction) where visible. I guess there should be a bulb behind there which has failed? (There is no light even when I turn on the other lighting (speedometer etc)
Anybody who knows if this is an easy fix and could give me some hints?dashbord.jpg

Using soft face grips, the centre control can be pulled away and inside the panel there is a tiny 1.2w wire ended capless bulb VAG part number N 017 751 2 and this costs approx 3 Euro. The easiest way to remove it is using a piece of 3mm bore vacuum pipe pushed over the bulb and then pull it out.

Thank you vey much for your tip Crasher! But, could give me further help as to where/what one needs to pull? Do I need to start by pulling out the turn-knobs perhaps or the surrounding panel?

dashbord2.jpgGot of the first panel off quite easily, but no further yet. Tried to loosen the black plastic under, - seems as if it should come off, but have not yet found the trick to get it off..

The book of words says to use a cloth and some grips and pull.
