I have the life model and it looks like the Style and above come with travel assist. That would account for the different steering wheel buttons.

and it looks like it is only standard on the Style once they added folding mirrors so not available on the initial batch of cars built before the first lockdown

Actually, we have Travel Assist on our Style but no folding mirrors (delivered Ausust 2020). Hard to keep up with all the changes in spec VW have made in the first 6 months of the new Mk8.

Same as Handydave, no folding mirrors on my Style, delivered June 2020 but has travel assist. Perhaps it was it was a paid for addition. I'll see if I can find my paperwork.

I also have a Style with travel assist but without folding door mirrors. Does this mean that Lane assist cannot be switched off using the steering wheel buttons?

When I first got the car I did manage to switch off lane assist using (I think) the OK button on the right side of the steering wheel but I can’t seem to do it again for some reason. The dealership seem to think it can only be done through the infotainment system

I have the same Style as you. If you have a button on the end of the left steering wheel stalk (indicators etc) press it and a menu appears on the instrument display. You then press ok to turn off Lane Assist.

Brilliant, I’ve just tried it and it works. Thanks for your help - I’d never have found it myself!
