    First post alert!
Help please. I am totally new to this type of mechanics, as I am truly old school having years of classic car experience and a very capable car restorer, but modern mechanics is my nemesis!
So, I am having palpitations having read through some of the threads regarding the BMN engine and its issues!
the car had a new Turbo fitted end of August by a VAG specialist.
My son's 07 car is displaying the coil, mil and DPF lights and is in Limp Mode.
So I have invested in VCDS diag and run it revealing the following:

VCDS -- Windows Based VAG/VAS Emulator Running on Windows 7 x64
    VCDS Version: 20.4.2.0 (x64)
    Data version: 20200730 DS317.0
    Ross-Tech: Home

    Address 01: Engine Labels: 03G-906-018-BMN.clb
    Control Module Part Number: 03G 906 018 DN HW: 03G 906 018 DN
    Component and/or Version: R4 2.0l PPD1.2 G 1247
    Software Coding: 0000072
    Work Shop Code: WSC 01052 210 175100

    Fault Frequency: 1
    Reset counter: 40

    (no units): 0.0
    Lambda: 228.2 %
    Pressure: 0.0 mbar
    Time: 419.3 s

    Readiness: N/A

My research has yielded some info, but I'm not sure of its correctness.
Component and/or Version: R4 2.0l PPD1.2 G 1247 +++++ I believe relates to a Needle lift sensor, I would like to understand how I can further investigate this.

    P2002 -006 / 008194 ++++ Diesel Particulate Filter. (I have replaced the G450 valve)

I have tried regeneration, unsuccessful, i'm thinking something is preventing the regeneration? What possibly could that be?
Any assistance with this, to improve my understanding, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation of any support with this.

The BMM and BMN engines are a disaster, you could not have chosen a worse car to work on. At that mileage the DPF will at least need cleaning professionally (DPF Clean Team in Hinckley are excellent) and a new pressure sensor (genuine only) after which you must carry out a forced regeneration. The problem is the injectors, these are the likely cause of the DPF clogging up and replacing them with proper new units would cost more than the car is worth.

Thanks Crasher for the reply. I'm guessing that I will need to remove the DPF for cleaning? I will contact DPF Clean Team, thanks for their recommendation.
Regarding the pressure sensor - G450, I recently replaced that but I'm guessing it is a pattern part as I purchased it from GSF Car Parts. I will order an OEM part from Audi and fit.
Is the forced regeneration done stationary, and via VCDS, and once completed will I be able to clear that fault code? Sorry if these questions are obvious.
I don't think new Injectors are a route that I would follow.

Yes the DPF has to be removed, the regeneration is carried out whilst driving. Remember the new pressure sensor has to be matched to the ECU. Unfortunately the injectors are the core problem with the 16v PD TDI in that their seats leak combustion gases into the fuel system which corrupts the fuel being injected and so makes the characteristic eye watering toxic fumes that come out of their tailpipes.

Wow, "eye watering toxic fumes that come out of their tailpipes", that sounds bloody awful!
I am now wondering if this is a worthwhile repair and how long the filter may last before it clogs up again?

It is bloody awful and as it fills up the DPF very quickly, people illegally remove them. The 170PS BMN is by far the worst offender, the stench one of these produces with the DPF removed is unbelievable. A few weeks ago I had a 174PS T5 in for a poor running and cutting out problem and this had the same awful stench, so bad that I had to keep the AC on recirculation and only open a windows when moving and leaving the fumes behind, this had also had its DPF removed illegally. I had it running down one end of the car park and was getting complaints from the office four units further up the car park! In the end I tracked the cutting out to be a combination of the unique fuel delivery and return system on the 174 and leaking injector fire rings which allowed combustion gases to get directly into the injector fuel feed, corrupting the mixture. The 4 valve per cylinder head used on the BMN does not have fire rings as the seal is injector direct to head and this has been a known issue and I want a sickly BMN to test the theory on. The BMM is 2v and uses the same seals as the 5 cylinder so as you can get a Febi 46527 seal set for £15 per cylinder (even from Amazon) all you would need is a set of injector and rocker arm bolts from a VAG dealer and changing the seals is easy.

These seals sound as though they get hard and let by, I take it that they are "O" rings? Do you think this is a worthwhile task for my son's car or just see what effect the DPF clean has?
I would like to ask what pit falls I may encounter whilst removing the PDF from the car? I know the cleaning process requires the sensors to be removed before they pick it up. The car will be on stands during the DPF removal and would like to know what I'm going to be up against before starting, although I'm optimistic that it should be straight forward!
I have send an email to DPF Clean Team for an idea of cost and hopefully I will get a call from them on Monday.

Forgot to ask, its the PDF that is holding it in limp mode is it?

DPF at that mileage could well be full passed the regen capabilities, also the g450 needs to be adapted via vcds easy to do but states it needs to be before you drive the car..
Not sure how easy it is on your car to get the DPF offthe car but a good chemical clean overnight or longer if possible could get the unit clean of ash..That again would also need adapting when it goes back on the car ,just a short procedure again in vcds to adapt the figure back to zero..Not familiar with your engine regarding the injectors so cant help there..

The nasty that can happen when removing the DPF is the temp senders and/or Lambda sensor Galling their threads so they won’t come out. DPF Clean Team are well experienced in sorting out the damaged threads but the sensors are not cheap.
