I've been using Cubic Telecom data plans but looking to change
Does anyone use their own SIM without any issue?
Can anyone recommend a data only SIM plan?
Or is it possible to tether the car to my mobile phone?

You should be able to connect to your mobile as a hotspot. Just depends how good your data is then. I'm in Cumbria so it's patchy at best

My understanding is that you can use the car as a hotspot, relying on a data sim - either the Cubic one built or your own in the SIM slot, to provide the connection but you cannot go the otherway and hotspot the car off your phone. That said those taing delivery of cars recently are saying there is no longer a SIM slot in the car so Audi may have changed it for these cars, otherwise they are forcing you to use their provider which would not be good an possible illegal

I'm basing this on VW's but both my 17 Passat and the wife's brand new golf 8 can use my phone's hotspot. The golf has an eSIM.

Yes the Mk7 and Mk8 Golf's we had/have work in the logical way of allowing the car to hotspot off the phone. The A6 does not allow that. Not sure why they should do it differently between brands, seems daft
