Hi all, I’ve got a dashcam with hardwire kit from my last car that I haven’t yet fitted to the Golf. I felt confident taking my old Fiesta’s interior apart to hide the wiring but haven’t got a clue with this. Has anyone fitted a hardwired dashcam to their MK8 yet that could advise the best way to route the cable?

I appreciate that, but most modern cars are electronically complex and that shouldn’t stop someone installing a dashcam. It’s more a question of where best to route the cable, once the cable is routed it’s then just a choice of which fuse to use which shouldn’t be an issue no matter how complex the rest of the electronics are

I've done it on previous cars but letting a mechanic do it on the MK8.

I'd imagine otherwise same as other cars running it under the rubber around the door then behind the trim on the pillar being careful of the airbag.

I have fitted dashcam from my previous golf to my mk8, fuse no 52 which is vertical in the fuseboxis is the one to piggyback and routing cable was easy. Finding an earthing point that was accessable was a bit harder, it took me about 30 mins to complete.

I don't have a Golf 8 wiring diagram yet, it isn't so much the routing of the cable, it is where you pick up the power and ignition live signal.
