    2011. 2.0L TDI, 170Ps.
I'm hoping this could be something overlooked.

I've just had a new used low mileage Manual Gearbox fitted as the old ones shaft bearings were shot causing excessive wobble/ Vibrations.

Now the new gearbox has cured these issues with no more wobble/ Vibrations. It's now Alot more responsive and tight.

However the old gearbox also had an issue of not wanting to go into 1st gear at random times.
And now this new gearbox is doing the same but it's more prominent!
It will not go into 1st gear at all, It refuses to even push up into 1st from neutral UNLESS I slightly wiggle the gearstick to the right and then it falls into 1st gear with ease as it should.

Does this sound like something needs adjustment? Or something else?

Yesterday it would go into 1st if I put it into 2nd first but now that doesn't work. Now only wiggling it slightly to the right while pushing it into 1st gear works and when I do this it goes into gear with ease. Almost like something is mis- aligned.

Don’t you have to align a gearstick on a manual?
isn’t there adjustment on the stick / cabling to sort that out? If you replaced the gearbox, perhaps the cabling between stick and transmission needs adjusting correctly?

Do these have cables or arms? It's something I can get looked at.

I’ve got a tiptronic, so no idea sorry.
all I know is that on previous cars, if there were issues in getting the car into a notchy first gear it was recommended to adjust the linkage.

just had a google, and some bits cone up from this forum -

does the car go into gear easily when engine off?

also, does it go into gear if you pump the clutch a few times first?

if it goes into gear, then possibly issue with master cylinder or air getting into system, may need more bleeding to get air out?

Yes the car goes into all gears with the engine off.
I will look into having the Master cylinder/Slave cylinder re-bled and see if there is any improvement.
Pumping the clutch doesn't help it get into 1st, Only slightly wiggling it as mentioned does.
