Has anyone ever noticed much of a difference in economy or performance when using premium diesel over normal diesel.

Iv run 2 tanks so far if premium diesel. Never used premium diesel before so not sure what to expect from using apart from what iv read.

So far not been impressed with the economy compared to what iv spent. I.e £40 have managed about 250-280miles town driving. Is that what to expect or should i be getting more miles out of it?

I certainly know that using normal will obv give me more miles per pounds therefore am considering switching to normal diesel so i can get more miles out of it.

    or here ...

You will learn exactly what "premium" diesel is ... or should I say ...... isn't !!

Interesting. Iv read another article that suggested, yes use it. Good to know that theres no harm in using normal diesel and the cost is in fact one you dont need to take on in order to gain much if anything.

Try using Esso fuel, it works for my car, better than anything else.

There used to be a big difference between regular diesel and Shell VPower when it was first launched. The VPower was made using SynCrude which was generated via a chemical process from Liquified Natural Gas (from memory). As such it created a very clean fuel which my old PD A4 used to really like and made a noticeable different to economy vs. the Tesco equivalent. Then sadly VPower changed formulation and i noticed it made next to bog-all difference over/above standard diesel. No idea what the forumlation of VPower diesel is now, but I can tell you the colour, texture and smell is totally different to how it was when it started out.
