    I've got a 2016 Q7 SE with 21 inch alloys (the description says "21 x 9.5" 5-twin spoke design 285/40 R21).

I will need winter tyres for continental travel however figured that buying part worns with alloys will, oddly, be cheaper, and easier to swap.

The question is - what will actually fit a Q7? I understand that the size of brake discs + the wheel bolt arrangement are limiting factors. Will 19" alloys fit? As for the bolts, do I just check this visually?

All above are factory winter wheels for Q7. Plus of course 21".

I have 21” and use winters but didn’t really want to face the hassle and cost of buying and storing alloys. So I ended up just getting 21” summer / winter tyres sets and swapping them over every 6 months. Costs about £90 a time including storage so in long run it’s probably cheaper what you’re proposing but I love the look of my 9.5J rims.

I also bought a set of Michelin Alpin to fit my 21” rims and just have them stored and swapped at minimal cost by my local Merityre.

Has anybody fitted Hankook winter tyres?
I've just had a look and searched on Audi Original Fit and they are listed as a brand for AO.

Nope I have the Nokian they’ve been good in ice & snow and I have v3 there’s now a v4 which seems to get even better ratings. Also I ended up keeping them on during the spring this year due to lockdown and even though using them when really too warm they didn’t wear out much at all.

For 2 years Hankook is an official Audi supplier and very often these tires are fitted by the factory in Q7 and Q8 cars. RSQ8 is mainly fitted with Hankook and for this car you will not find other winter tyres in 23" size as Hankook. IMO it is proof of their high quality. Personally I have no experience with this brand but on many Audi forums you will find very positive opinions about Hankook. By the way: they produce tyres for Audi in their factory in Hungary.

Hi ahin4114 - how do you find the Alpin's? I'm curious, I had some 20" alloys with Continental winter contact which were fantastic, but i didn't like the look of the car as I'm use to my 22's. So last year I decided to sale the 20" winter package and brought some Pirelli Scorpion Winter 22" and just change the rubber over in Nov and April. I regret that decision, well the decision to opt for the Pirelli at least. Stupidly, the Conti's were avaliable in the 185 35 R22 but just £40 more. errr

Clydefrog85 - Make sure you'll be happy with the look when you downsize! I made that mistake!

I've had a personal recommendation from someone for the Vredestein Wintrac-Pro.

So I've just ordered 4 from Opneo.

Having been a Pirelli man for 15 years, this is quite a departure for me. However, the spec looks good and the reviews are very good (as is the price) so it try and see.
