Hi. Iv had a nextbase front and rear dashcam fitted recently. Both hardwired but having major issues with dab interference with the rear camera. Its seems to be fine when disconnected with only front one running. The halfrods guy said its common with Audis and having spoken to the guy he is willing to re-route the wires. However i dont want to keep going back if theres still an issue so halfords will if i want, get the rear hardwired camera removed and install the rear camera module that connects to the front camera.

Has anyone had this fitted in an A6 and what is the rear view like? I understand as its not on the rear window it wont necessarily pick things up nearer my bumper but im after an overall sence of what the rear camera is like in a long car like the A6.

Strange really as I've got the rear module and had no issues, think it depends on which side of the car the cable is run down. Mine is run down the drivers side as the DAB think runs down the passenger side

When you say rear module, do you mean rear hardwired camera? The module im referring to is the one plugged into the front camera facing backwards which is what im going to have instead of the hardwired as thats causing my dab issues. Mines is a 2014 A6.

What car do you have Triumphboy?

Hi. Have a front cam and it’s fine but the one in the rear, power taken from the socket in the boot is a problem. The reason is the aerial for the radio is the heated rear screen so you get problems with DAB reception. Some people say a ferrite ring in the power lead resolves this, but it’s really down to radiation from the camera the better the quality of design the less the problem. You will find that FM radio should be fine but that is not a solution is it. If you got it from Halford then they may be happy to try a better quality one if that resolves the interference and just pay the difference, guess that would be down to the branch. It really annoys me that manufacturers put cameras at the rear and front of cars for parking aids and don’t offer the option of using them as dash cams as an extra, they are missing an opportunity there.

100% agree Elansear. Mines has got reverse cam and its annoys me that the hardwire is already there and surely this must be quite a simple thing to convert from a manufacturers point of view.

The front camera is wired into passanger side fusebox with a cable running from the front camera to power the rear camera. I would assume this wire is running on the passanger side to the rear camera as this make sence to do it this way. Tbh cost wise i dont want to end up spending a fortune on a camera as im also having the exact same unit on my wifes Nissan Juke which apparently dont habe that issue and im happy to have the plug in module for the rear view facing if adequate and picks up sufficient bits of info

Fyi, i had 2 ferrite cores fitted today, one on front and one on the back. Only margonally better but no where how good it is without the rear cam being plugged in.

The problem is the radiation emitted by the camera, ferrite rings on the power lead help but if the level of radiation from the camera is high and it’s mounted next to the aerial there’s not a lot to do. I wonder if a Faraday bag over the camera could help like the ones you can get for the car keys that are keyless entry. To be honest I only use mine on a long run with motorways or in Europe wher there’s no DAB and I use an iPod for music.
