Hi All. Sorry to ask like this, but I am at my wit's end. I have a 2003 A4 B6 Avant, and it is one of the ones that were made in a narrow date band, apparently. The air conditioning compressor died on the car. I went through several sites, checked each against each other for part numbers, and ordered the compressor that seemed to be the right one for me! WRONG!!!! It doesn't fit the brackets, and one pipe faces the wrong way! Is there anywhere where I can find out what the ORIGINAL part number for my car would have been, so I know exactly which OEM part number I am looking for when dealing with motor factors places? Thanks.

Thanks for that, Kite. If I go to that page, it gives me three part numbers! Does that mean that any of the three will fit?

I got an aftermarket part, with no specific OEM number, but one which fitted my car, according to the supplier. The supplier, to their credit, is profusely apologetic, and willing to accept an immediate return! I think I have sorted part of it out. My car is a 2003, and parts changed that year. I thought mine was on the <after side of the number change, but it looks like it is on the before>. So, return this one, get a refund, and find another one somewhere!

Saw in an earlier post that it was AWX. I'm guessing you got either 8E0260805BA or 8E0260805BJ which have an opposite sense of fixing to these ones:

    8E0260805AB: >> 20.01.2003
    8E0260805T: 20.01.2003 >> 23.06.2003
    8E0260805AG: 23.06.2003 >> 19.01.2004

How does that look against what you bought?

Firstly, it looks like I ought to be buying you doughnuts! I thought that mine was 8E..5T, and I thought that was what I had ordered. Looks like I ordered one for 8E..5AG instead. Apparently the pipework is different. Thanks for finding those for me. I looked at the data sheets, and was expecting to see one number, and instead all three were there. Now I just have to order one with the 5T compatibility, that doesn't say it is compatible with 5AG!

Here's one clearly marked as a ...T: Audi A4 B6 Air Conditioning Aircon Compressor 8E0260805T | eBay. How does that compare with what you've ended up with, and the pipework to connect to? If it looks right then as you say getting a part that only lists that number will hopefully sort you out.
