I noticed that my MK5 tdi 1.9 wasn't defogging the windows and would spray an oily film onto them also, there was also a strange smell when I'd operate the hot air and then finally my coolant level dropped real low and I had a dash warning one day. So I figured out it was the heater core.

Got the old one out, sure enough it was a leaking heater core. Tried to pop the new one in and then tried to do up the clips on the flanges of each pipe with those pipe clip/clamp things. Safe to say that it wouldn't go in properly and I couldn't get enough of the gap to close enough even with a lot of force to do up the clamps. Is there a special tool for it or am I doing something wrong? I'm off out today to get two new clips for it because it's ridiculous. Wondering if when they do them up in the factory if the metal starts to bend inwards or something under pressure?

Thanks for any help you can give me
