    Hi team!

Was 95% through replacing the front stabiliser/sway bar bushings, had gotten up to torquing the bolts (Haynes manual said 40nm and then 90'), was trying to tighten them evenly so was working up to 40, completed the back one, go back to the front and "pop" I'm left with a the nut and half the bolt on the floor as it sheered it off

Question is, what is that bolt attached to? It looks like sub-frame... and for bonus points can these be replaced solo or are they fixed to the subframe - meaning you need a new sub-frame?

Found a link to VWvortex talking about a similar problem with part number N 910 734 01 but that appears to be for a 2012.

    Thanks for your help!

Do you mean is the thing it screws into itself removable? Why not take out the stub of the snapped bolt?

Do you know what manufacturer the bolts were? Even if it had gone in OK on the day since they are a TTY / stretcher it sounds like it may well have snapped when under a bit of extra dynamic load. Not sure I'd trust the rest you put in unless you have a decently calibrated wrench and they are a well known name where you can reasonably say it really is a 1-in-lots failure.

So it looks like the bolts come through part of the sub-frame, I just wasn't sure if they were fixed internally or could be pushed out of the top. The kit I had included new nuts but not bolts so assumed it was only the nuts that were stretcher? Will call my local VW parts dept in the morning as I'm trying to get this sorted for an MOT due Friday
