    Hi All,

I've used the search to look but only found other people with the problem and never a solution being posted.

The Van idles fine but when revving it will stutter and what seems like diesel knock, kicks loads of smoke out of the exhaust. When unplugging the vacuum from the VNT actuator it revs freely. The VNT moves all the way up and down when Vacuum is applied and removed. I've manually applied vacuum using a MityVac and it appears to be holding pressure.

I have check all of the Boost piping and Intercooler they all seem to be free of leaks.
I've run through the N75 test on VCDS and functions as it should.
EGR and ASV have been removed and cleaned.
Turbo does not have any excessive play in it.
VCDS actual and specified are way off.

    Thanks all
    Phill

A Caddy then... Firstly the BLS is horribly prone to throwing its con rods out of the pram and destroying its camshaft and the latter could tie in with you symptom. So disconnecting the vacuum pipe from the VNT diaphragm sops the smoke and knock?

Yeah I know the BLS is terrible, I will look to replace it in the future, I just want to get the van running at this point.

Yes when removing the vacuum from the actuator it revs without any stutter and the smoke is massively reduced.

This was the previous thread I found with the same issue:

Normally I would say you are depleting the vacuum system which stops the EGR working but it is electric on those.
