Hello I know its my first post, so I hope its OK

    I have a 2.0 tdi bkd dsg 2006

And over last couple of days it's used more diesel than normal

Having checked the oil it's definitely more than it was at oil Change 4 weeks ago

Today I noticed oil around the filling cap so replaced with a brand new one

Anyway after a run checked no oil around the cap but its smoking from the cap

    I smelt it, diesel

So the garage thinks injector seals

    But I think tandam pump

Both expensive jobs but is there anyway to tell them apart.

Only symptoms car jerks from stationary sometimes, using more fuel then normal

Seems to be oil/diesel below the tandam sat on top of gearbox but definitely not coming from gearbox

In my experience the Tandem pump causes oil in the fuel and this is easy to check for by opening up the fuel filter. On the BKD it can be damage to the head seating face of the injector and this has to be gently re-cut... what possessed them to not fit a copper fire ring is beyond me.

    Hi guys

    Trust you are well.

    I have a BKD 2.0TDI

Yesterday whilst on my way home, my vehicle stalled whilst driving. I was lucky enough as this occurred whilst in my driveway. Did a diagnostic with VCDS and did not pick up any fault codes, the car refused to start. I did a bit of digging and opened up the fuel filter housing, it looked quite dirty, so I removed the tank feed line from the fuel filter I primed the fuel into a container and noticed a lot of soot. I then put the feed line back, bolted down the filter housing and then removed the pipe that feeds the Tandem pump. I tried starting the vehicle & tried priming, but no fuel was coming out of the housing.

Will the soot from the return line go back into the tank?
What is an acceptable amount of soot in the fuel?
Could a faulty fuel filter valve on the housing cause an issue of this sort?

Prior to this, the vehicle ran quite well. But for the last month upon take off at certain times only, the car stutters and feels like it just wants to switch off. Once the car has momentum, it has full power and doesn't seem to have any issues.

    Many thanks
