    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone on here has one of these tools that would hire it out or knows somewhere that hires it out (I'm in the Merseyside area). Alternatively if I was to buy one would there be any interest in hiring it????

Im not sure if that tool is for the A6 C6 onwards as the bolt is the other way round, i believe it was for the earlier models.

Crasher mentioned this in this post Solved... 4F top arm bolt removal

Yes I have got that tool but it is for the steel uprights used on the Passat 3B, A4 8D and A6 4B, there is a different tool for the A4 8E and A6 4F but it is utterly useless, mine just kept slipping off and stripping its thread so I threw it in the back of the cupboard where it remains gathering dust, it cost over £500 from memory. Tellingly this was dropped from the KLANN range and replaced by the http://www.klann-online.de/en/Servic...8/Default.aspx. These days we class the upper links as consumables and heat the bolt up to release it BUT with a naked flame the aluminium breaks down and cracks so we use an induction heater.

As an aside, the KL-0250-40 is an awful thing to use and I would not let any of my mechanics use it after it was damaged numerous times.

That drill out tool looks a bit tricky, no guarantee the drill is not going to run off.

That is why no mechanic in their right mind would use it to save a few cheap ally upper links.
