Quick Q for those wiser than me.....CNHA/QLX Ultra. It's been in for the Gearbox Oil and filter change service, no mention of the filter being changed....just called them to check and "there is no filter on yours".....strange as every other S-Tronic I can find either has the flat one in the sump, or the little "mini oil filter" like one externally...

Anyone know if this is correct or not?

    Thanks,
    Dan.

Hi from Audi UK web site
S tronic oil and filter check

Your S tronic gearbox is a very sophisticated piece of engineering that needs to be looked after with regular oil changes. The smooth 2-clutch system is computer controlled with very fine engineering tolerances. If the gearbox oil is dirty, it will damage other parts and affect performance.
Dirty oil can overheat the gearbox or cause the clutches to burn out. This will lead to poor gear selection, loss of drive and transmission failure. The oil should be replaced every 38,000 miles.
Depending on your vehicle, the filter may need to be changed as well. All the gearbox automatic transmission fluid (ATF) oil needs to be replaced.
What happens when Audi perform an oil check

During an oil check, we check the gearbox and look for any leaks. We drain the gearbox completely and replace the oil filter before filling it with high-quality gearbox oil that meets Audi standards.

Book this, and other services online

There is a bit that says your filter may need to be changed, perhaps they felt it was ok so did not change,.

    Thanks for that Elansear.

That's what I tried to do, but all of my local dealers have now opted out of the Fixed Price Servicing and apparently price things "on their own", so have just paid £25 more than the Audi website for something that is "what they want to do" which is not necessarily what Audi want them to do. I know there are folks on here with access to Elsawin so hoping one of them will be able to confirm that the dealer statement of "your gearbox doesn't have an oil filter" is correct. I'm confused as the supplying dealer changed the gearbox oil just before delivery at just under 40k, and I've already had an issue with the car where Audi HQ CS were involved and their person reviewed the service history (which they refuse to supply me with a copy of citing "data protection") and stated clearly, good, gearbox oil and....let me check....yes, the filter were changed on schedule. So to now find out it hasn't got a filter leaves me someone concerned that someone isn't right here....

    Thanks,
    D.

Yeah, like I said, I can't find reference to any one that doesn't have a filter - it's either a little mini-oil-filter in a little mini-oil-filter type container somewhere on the right of the engine (from what I've seen) or it's in the sump which has to come off and it's a "flat" type thing. But I don't have access to Elsawin to check. Hoping Crasher or someone that has access can look it up for me and confirm/deny whether the dealer is correct. FWIW my independent says there is ALWAYS one on DSG never mind which VAG marque you are looking at.

From my understanding it’s in the sump. Here’s what it looks like; it was £17

I know it doesn't answer your question, but just had mine done and the invoice shows "S-Tronic Oil and Filter replaced".

My S-Tronic PXD box has 2 filters, one is a strainer in the sump pan, which normally doesn't get changed, as it hopefully has little or nothing in it, and the other is a small cartridge on the outside that catches all the fine particles and sludge. This one definitely must be changed.
Audi say the drain ALL the oil, but when I did mine I only got out about 4.5 Litres instead of the 7 Litres I was expecting. I understand 7L is a dry fill capacity, but I was still expecting to get somewhere nearer 6.5L out.

If it's like the videos I've watched, then you have to remove the inner plug as well as the outer sump plug. The outer one only lets a bit out, the inner one when removed causes a nigara-falls of oil and you should find the balance there?
