Hi there,

I have recently bought an Audi A3 convertible, 2012. The car had a replacement radio/media unit fitted, a Kenwood unit (
DMX7017DABS) offering DAB radio and Apple Airplay.

There is an issue with the radio, in that the AM/FM radio works through the radio aerial built into the front windscreen, while the DAB works through an external aerial, fitted to the inside of the front windscreen. The 2 aerials interfere with each other and the result is neither work very well At all. I basically have 1 DAB station and 1 FM station I can tune into.

I understand there is an issue with DAB aerials and convertibles, as they would usually use the car roof to help boost the signal.

Can you tell me if there is a working approach to make both the DAB and car radio work in my car?

I have since replaced the DAB aerial with an independent one, but the FM aerial still interferes with it and it still doesn’t tune into hardly any stations; currently Radio 1.

Surely this is a known issue and there has to be a resolution known to Audi/Kenwood for this?

Can you please help? Many thanks in advance.
