    Hi

Ive been getting a problem lately where there is absolutely no power to the car and I need to use the physical key to open the door. The dash has no power. I open the bonnet and lift it up then close it and miraculously there is power to the dash board and the car starts up fine without hesitation. The battery would seem fine. The clock has been reset to 00.00 but everything else in the dash is still correct. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I hear that it could be a bonnet sensor but have not been able to find the part or even know where the sensor is but i suspect it maybe be part of the bonnet catch? If anyone could i would be grateful.

    Thanks

Could be a lot of things, bad ground for instance that is shaken into conductivity by shutting the bonnet. The bonnet open sensor would not normally stop power to the dash even if faulty. Other looms could be shaken by the bonnet closure and therefore I would either do some proper power / ground checks or call an auto electrician as it could be a difficult to trace a wire break or similar fault.

I'd start with a fault code scan (VCDS or other professional level scan tool) to see if their are any electrical faults logged that might lead you to the cause of the issue.
