A6 AMI Retrofit

My A6 has all the bells / whistles inc 10gb jukebox, sd card slots and 6 disc changer ( Bose system ) plays dvds also

Would adding AMI be a pain ? I would like to use my 120gb ipod my missus bought me late last year.

This was the information I found. It seems pretty simple however I run in to a component protection/ ami update issue. After trying several hours to fix this problem I've installed a kufatec module for bluetooth.

Hi,

You mention having a 10Gb jukebox, so I assume you have a facelift car with MMI 3G High (with the "top hat" joystick on the MMI knob)? Many of these came with AMI already installed. It isn't a unit per se - just a harness and coding. One end of the harness connects into the back of the 5F multimedia unit in the glovebox, and the other end (where you plug in your AMI cable) is usually sited in the roof of the glovebox. It's worth looking to see if you already have it - the AMI connection is hidden away almost invisible in the roof of the glovebox and it's easy to miss it.
It's a very easy retrofit if you don't already have it.

I know where it should be, but just an empty hole in the roof of the glove box.yes i have the facelift withe the joystick. 3g high. Please let me know what i need?

If you have the hole then it would have been installed before. if it was not there before the cut out would be there for you to push out.

Drop the glovebox to see if the cable has fallen out.

Hi,

You will need the AMI 3G harness cable set, and you will need to code the 5F module to tell it AMI is installed - someone with VCDS should be able to help do this.

You can also probably find them for less on Ebay.

Hi,

If you have the hole already, it sounds like AMI was previously installed. As Dan suggested, the cable may simply have fallen out. Take the glovebox down to check if the cable is there before you do anything else.
