    Hi

I'm very tempted to pull the trigger on this car, however decided I should pop here and ask what to expect from owning such a car?

    Good and bad

Lovely torque and decent power, with decent economy. I find the gearbox a bit annoying at times, not as quick to change as I’d like under certain conditions.
Make sure it comes with a proper warranty, see my recent thread on the tpi mine just had brought to light.
ive not driven anything smaller than a 3.0 tdi for so long I can’t imagine not owning one.
    I say go for it.

    Hello Monte,

Like "Mand" said, get warranty with it, Audi extended or third party (audi ext. is about £500 for the year under 60k). I've been driving V6 3.0 since 2010 and can't imaging getting anything less (I can't find anything I like in 4 cyl. world). The only problems I've had (under warranty) was a rattle from rear shelf which Audi knew about and was fixed under TSB (insulation to stop vibration). The passenger side door mirror demist stopped working twice and twice they replaced the mirror. Warning about handbrake once released in the morning in winter brought up a brake system warning contact workshop, you can still drive, turned out to be pad replacement resolved (weird alarm). I topped up engine oil twice with a litre, that is it in 4 years.

Power like !"Mand" mentioned, Tiptronic can be slow to change on occasions (compared to manual cars) but once you get use to it and run in sport/ Manual for quicker response it becomes ok, that said, there is a re-teach for the grearbox on the net and there is newer tiptronic firmware (original 1004, new 1010). 0-60 in around 5.3s, 272ps 200Kw, 600Nm torque pulls very very nice, your at 60 from standing lights real easy.

272 are hard to find, mines is in a moonlight blue which I think Audi has pulled, (probably charge extra). They were about when you can have things like flat bottom steering wheel and Digital display (extras) without being top of the line. expect to get real world motoring mpg of 30MPG town and 45MPG motorway average. Tyres are usually 245x40xR18 or 255x35xR19, I have the first 245 and I get them for about £110 (each) bought as a set of 4 fitted, previously I had 255 and they cost just shy of £200 a piece. I run Michelin Pilot Sport 4.

I say its very good, mine is a 16 plate.
Post if if you get it...

Worried about the Warranty as I am buying used from private seller.

Warranty appears to be a bit than the £500 you stated though, insureiwthaudi.co.uk is coming out at £1000 a year, or £700 with £250 excess. Is there a way to get it cheaper? Not sure I trust third party ones.

RAC warranty for their best cover is £1067 for 3 years. Question is, is it worth the paper it's printed on!

    Monte,

Whats your mileage? if under 60K, see Audi warranty, with Audi financial services
    Warranty
Unless your mileage is high it should be reasonable, my car is 30k and I pay under £500 with £100 excess.

I think if your being quoted £1k, your car must be 90k miles plus.
Goto link above and check by entering reg of car your looking at.

    all the best.

The car is 45k miles. at the same details as yours, it's £917 a year.

Bit weird why it's so different. Now I'm worried the car has some history tied to it's reg plate, like being in a garage a lot etc, but that wouldn't make sense since you could have issues fixed by a non audi dealer and you would think Audi would back up their engineers better than doubling the price of the warranty.

Full Vcheck came back with no worries.

Could it be the age of the car? Mine will be a 16 plate.

Mine is a 16 plate too, I can only think it's the mileage difference..... or I'm reg. to 10,000 miles limit for warranty as an option.

Either way, I hope it gets sorted.

I've put the question to Audi, so shall see. £1000 a year I would be inclined to just put that money in a bank account instead.
