This was posted on another forum I'm on and thought it would be worthwhile putting it on here.

IMHO there's a few erm.. "daft" bits in it

FEW daft bits! It's bonkers, written by a mad person who hates car drivers! How are we supposed to calculate the "hierarchy" of each and every person, vehicle, animal whatever we come into proximity with when traveling at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 mph? Bonkers! We all need to fight this. In the future, who will a self driving car be able to distinguish a 50 year old pedestrian from a 70 year old? Crackers. I have had enough... can I get off please?

I like some of the thought that has gone into cyclists responsibilities. I cycle and my son cycles, so I want us and other cyclists to be safe without aggravating car / van drivers to the point they do something dangerous. I find this proposed guidance too confusing:

"[cyclists’ should] ride in single file when drivers wish to overtake and it is safe to let them do so. When riding in larger groups on narrow lanes, it is sometimes safer to ride two abreast"

as it's narrow (subjective) roads where problems often arise I think.

Not really sure what the best wording is as a twice as long line of single file can be harder to pass than a short two abreast group
