    Hello,

Anyone can tell me if I need a new timing chain or not. My symptoms are, car misfiring on idle, still able to drive fine no loss of power and I can hear a rattle sound on cold start at idle. Which lead me to believe I need a new timing chain as I have seen online these engines are known for chain tensioner issues and chain stretching. I have some paperwork for misfiring, car was taken to Audi to fix the misfire as engine light was on with a misfire code in cylinder 2. They cleaned out the injectors to find the problem still persists. I dont know much about the previous history as I just bought the car but hearing the rattle on idle makes me think it needs a new timing chain?

I have some pictures of measuring values of the ignition timing adjusment cylinder 1 which on idle is always negative.. Lowest I have seen is -7.5 degrees. If you rev the car and hold the revs, the figures go positive but on idle they will stay negative.

Is this issue timing chain related or is there a bigger issue with the car? No misfire codes present at the moment on VCDS. Seems like all 4 cylinders are misfiring according to VCDS?????
