    Hello all,

I wonder if anyone can help please, looks like there’s a whole load of strong knowledge on here.

A few months ago, I changed gear and accidentally selected 3rd instead of 5th, causing the engine to rev very heavily. The ASR light then came on with a warning message of ‘EMISSIONS WORKSHOP!’ and this was the first instance I had of the heavy vibration at low-moderate revs. Soon after, occasionally the engine light would come on when I began to drive up an incline at moderate revs and the car would judder heavily. This could be rectified by turning the ignition off and on again. As time has gone by (I’ve been unable to get my mechanic to take a look at it due to lockdown) the issue has got worse & now whenever I start the car, the ASR and engine management lights come on and stay on and the emissions warning light pops up, with the car juddering even before I’ve pulled away. Turning the ignition off and on used to fix this but this is becoming less and less effective, usually only working after a motorway run. When I’m driving at relatively higher revs the juddering is diminished, but returns as soon as the revs drop.

Any help would be really useful, possible problems it seems it could be are the injector loom or fuel filter or something called a MAF? The fuel filter as an initial cause seems logical to me, the extra hit of the high revs during the first instance may have gotten something lodged in the filter maybe?

I’m pretty handy generally as a stonemason, but don’t have much experience with fixing cars, so could follow a step by step replacement of a part but anything more technical may be beyond me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

    Best

    James
