Long saga, won't bore you. Have read everything on here for the last 10 years.

Question - is there any reason why my rear suspension which overnight sinks down to the bumpstops in Comfort mode, stays mostly up in Dynamic mode ?
This is with new bags so its not leaky bags or rubber.

I have the opposite but similar problem. Mine only sinks in dynamic mode, but stays up in every other. I succumbed to paying for the main dealer to look at it and they said there were no leaks and no fault codes. They blamed the battery because they didn't fit it but that's rubbish as the previous one they fitted had the same problem. I've just had to accept not leaving the car in dynamic mode!

Google audi SSP 242 & 243 for an understanding on how it works.

I know ths a C5 SSP but the principle is the same.

Not surprised by your dealer visit outcome, as 2 good Audi specialists I have used have never been able to find any obvious faults. Your situation is what the searches say - when the bags are compressed in dynamic they open up 'pores' in the rubber which stretch away in comfort. Mine is back to front - just been in for another airbag, no faults found but down on the ground the next day in comfort and keeps going down. For a laugh I put it in dynamic for a drive. Next day it has barely moved - just a quick flicker on the green light.

Thanks yeah I'm suspicious but not surprised that mine sinks in dynamic mode for the reasons stated (though am annoyed that Audi mechanics can't find this!

I guess if, for some reason, yours has the opposite issue, it could be that the "stretched" airbag in comfort mode is revealing a small leak, which gets "compressed / sealed" in dynamic mode? My concern for mine is.. Should i go to the expense of a new pair of bags at the rear (both sink) or just leave it? Do these bags ever suddenly fail or is it porous rubber that will stay OK for years to come?

Good question. I have replaced the rear bags 3 times over the last 6k. A couple blew, and the rest 'leaked'. I put a Bilstein OEM on last and it dropped so obviously not the bag. Have ordered some Audi pipes and fittings as no-one can get to 'root cause' ...
