I had fully intended to buy another A6 Avant to replace my 2006 A Avant Quattro 2.7 road Tax "black hole".

I found a nice 2015 Allroad over the weekend and went to view it, low mileage, but the whole place looked a bit iffy.

I've found another one at a dealer and its sub £20k, v high spec (tech pack etc) but has 77k on the clock. The salesman is a bit pushy but not many arnt these days.
Is there anything I need to keep an eye open for? the miles don't worry me too much as the dealer is offering 2 years parts/labour warranty (and my A6 has 203k on the clock and still going reasonably strong) etc

But since I've never had a Allroad before, I thought id ask if there is anything specific to that model that can be a cause for concern?, its the v6 3litre 282 (?) hp version. tech pack etc

    thanks in advance

    Steve

    Hi Steve,
It should have had 2 gearbox oil changes by now (38K miles intervals). If it hasn't then it will need one done. Make sure the warranty covers the gearbox. Make sure you test the suspension at all levels. I haven't heard many issues with the gearbox or air suspension on these but any gearbox issues tend to be expensive.

Cool, I shall bear that in mind. thank you.

I must admit, I was surprised how nice my 2006 A6 was still after driving a 2017 A6 Black edition and a top spec 2015 Allroad.

Whilst they were both a lot tighter and smoother, and had more tech, they were both so familiar too, I was surprised how little has changed since mine.

Its a shame stuff is simply wearing out on mine...and the tax!!

    Bit of a result today.

Previous services have included two gearbox oil changes. On top of that new discs/pads all round last year at the last service at a cost of over £1600 and a new MOT until next July.

Some very minor chips and marks, not worth getting them sorted unless I have anything else done. Drives sweet!, its got the larger screen with tech pack too and a phone box. New front tyres and the rears dont look that old.

On top of that 2 years warranty (presumably up to 100k), 2 years roadside assistance (although just got a great deal with RAC last week but hey ho), 2 years key cover and 2 years MOT protection.

Only downside appears to be that the maps appear to be 2018, which isnt too bad i guess, the car supports google maps but not sure how good that is in reality with a 3G sim card. The inside is also spotless so:

I'll be collecting next week, can't wait now.

Now to get a couple of bits in prep for getting my stinky dog in the boot.

    thanks for the help.

I ended up buying the one I saw, alas, there is very few for sale and the used car market in the UK is a bit crazy at the moment, so the old adage "snooze and you loose" is quite apt.

Do you guys in the US have the Allroad or even Avants? I recall reading somewhere, I think it was on the US audi forums that you didnt, but the thread was quite dated.

Frankly, the car is amazing, I'm sure I'll be finding switches and options for ages to come but the suspension is a welcome break after my previous A6 S-Line and 18inch rims, although my Allroad has 19's there is significantly more tyre and ride height too, the ride is so much softer, I dont have the need/desire to hurtle through corners like I used to, for me these days, its about comfort and leisurely drives.

I've already put 500miles on it despite the current climate and am off on holiday next week that should put another 1.5k miles on it. Shame it has a spare wheel of shame instead of the full size my A6 has but thats the times I guess.

The downside for me is that the maps are a stupid price and looks like only the Audi dealerships can enable them for you, I don't mind buying them for a reasonable price but £250-350 is a tad excessive.

Thus far loving the car, thankfully the A/C has been great in the 35+ deg C weather we've had for the last few days !!
