Left car standing on level ground for a week during which it rained a lot, came back to car and found boot floor and rear seat damp on the drivers side.

Couple of days later after some rain though the night found a large pool of water in the rear drivers side footwell.

Looked in boot and found 2 inches of water in the spare wheel well.

Window and door seals are all good and dry, no sign of any liquid/damp on the roof or doors or door pillars or the sides of the boot.

Has been suggested that maybe a rain channel somewhere is blocked,

Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions where I should look for a blockage
    that might cause this please

Do you have a sunroof? The drain hoses on those can block or become disconnected.

Another classic place is the drain holes at the bottom of the "pocket" behind the engine and under windscreen wipers. If you pour a glass of water in it should pretty instantly come out around wheel arches, not build up in a way that would overflow into car if left in torrential rain.

But they tend to collect in front.

Did you drive in the rain? There have been a few threads about spary finding a way in via boot vent slots. Less likely wen stood still though.

No sun roof, front floor is dry and as you suggested I poured some water by the wipers and it ran straight through.

This has been happening when the car is parked, I havent driven in the rain since it started.

I am fairly sure it is coming in towards the rear of the car and as it went suddenly from no water to lots of water
    something must have changed somewhere.

Will get the hose pipe out tomorrow and investigate

    Found it.

One of the little gromets that the rear light cluster pushes into had fell through behind the boot wall liner
