Hi all. Have a ‘19 plate latest model Touareg. Front passenger tyre has a tear in the sidewall after 8000 miles. Losing a few psi a week so looks to be a slow puncture and will need replacing. Car is on its factory fit Bridgestone alenzas. Am sure there are better alternatives out there but they’ve been Ok for me In the 8000 miles I’ve driven on them. Question is, while I can easily get another alenza fitted, should I do the other front while I am at it? But then will that screw up the transmission etc by having two tyres with a different rolling Circumference than the older rears? In which case should I do all four? Am sure I remember reading something years ago on DSG Transmission sensitivity to tyre circumference but can’t find anything lately on it still being an issue. What would you do?! And what better alternatives should I try? Tyres are 285/45/20 and there don’t seem to be many all weather options at all, which would be my preference if changing all 4. Thanks, Tim

An awkward common situation. If changing just one I would stick to the OE fit and the cars systems have enough tolerance to accept the difference in RR due to wear. Personally I would fit the Uniroyal RS5 if they made one in that size so I would go for the Audi specific AO rated Contisportcontact 5 SUV on the rear and move the rears to the front, wear them out and fit some more Contis

If you have been running these tires for years now then getting a new set will be a good decision.
