Looks like these two outfits are the most widely-bought: any thoughts on which is better, if any? Sachs seem slightly cheaper.

Presumably VAG themselves source their OEM flywheels/clutches from one of the above.

Also, there was a post on here a while back suggesting that a company called Techniclutch in Blackpool should be avoided. I see that their parts are significantly cheaper than most others for thew LUK ... anyone know why this is? I mean they're like almost a hundred quid less!

Apologies - I see from forum history that the LUK/Sachs question has been asked/answered loads of times. Looks like it's a six and two threes, although parts can't be interchanged.

LUK and Sachs are THE original suppliers to the factory assembly line... stop shopping by the price tag and fit and forget.

Ended up getting LuK flywheel, clutch and release kit from Italian seller for UKP268 inc delivery, which I thought was ok. Arrived in a week.

All very well saying 'don't shop by price' Crasher - but don't forget what forums are for, my friend. Sure, it's about sharing knowledge and so on; but it's also about being able to DIY jobs that a lot of us (most of us?) can't just hand over to a garage and say "give me the bill when it's done". We're trying to get by on what we've got - a few skills, and maybe not so much cash that we know the dealership manager's golf handicap.

I have to work with the mindset of get it in and done as fast as possible as people need their cars and time is money, what you get from me on forums is the pro way to do a job as that is the only way I know how to look at it.
