I know I said in my above post I would willingly pay a £5 annual subscription but I would actually pay £10, I think anything more than £10 might be a struggle to achieve. I just donated £10 there now by the way, after you brought attention to the donate button on the homepage. I guess most folk don't look at the home page simply from a practical thing, for example I have the forum saved in my favorites on the actual forum sections so it brings me straight to them where I just have to click the New Posts button to read the latest topics. I'd imagine most do this. I didn't even know the Donate feature existed, but even if I did, I would probably never have thought to use it only for I seen this thread that the forum could be in trouble in the near future.

I think if you make a thread bringing attention to the Donate button and the cause a few times throughout the year, maybe once a quarter or such it will attract folk to Donate then when they see it. I'm not saying the same person should Donate 4 times a year, I'm saying the same member will have potentially 4 chances of being encouraged to make a single donation in 1 full year. I'm just saying any members that don't see the Donate request at this time will maybe see it the next time or the time after that as some members mightn't log on that often.

Thank you for your donation it is appreciated...

The subscription side of things needs to be worked on before it can work, for a start the only forum software I can find that does offer the facility to offer a fully functional subscription service which will manage the subscription and allow me to set things up better to offer additional features to "paying" members is Invision Power Board so it may need about £500 of expenditure to make it work... this software does not really do it..

But donations may work just as well along with the current sponsors and the advertising packages...

Thanks again for all that have donated so far since yesterday, it is appreciated

Can you make a link that goes direct to the donation page, rather than needing to use the GIF POST thing on the home page? I've created a sig to encourage giving, and it might be even more effective if it was a single click operation.

Like other I have a favourite that take me straight into "today's posts", so won't see anything that doesn't appear on that page.

I always go straight to the (Favourite) B5 Sub-Forum, check for anything new there, then to "New Posts".

I notice that there is an Announcement about free email accounts at the top of all or most forums (but not the New Posts page).

Would it be possible to put the donation request as an Announcement, and also put it somehow at the top of the New Posts page?
