What do you think of the colour options for the Mk8?

    There are:
    - 2 whites
    - 1 black
    - 3 greys
    - 1 silver
    - 1 dark blue
    - lime yellow

It all seems rather monochrome, apart from the lime yellow which is really striking and obviously the signature colour.

Where are the reds, the subtle blues, the gunmetals? Other marques can do it.....

They don't have the full range of UK's preferred colours, as at Grey rules the roost as UK's favourite car colour in 2019 | Autocar. Omission of a firey red seems a shame. There are some lovely earlier Golfs in that type of colour. Allowing one shade per 200k cars an extra blue wouldn't go amiss either.

    1. Grey - 521,273 new registrations
    2. Black - 466,756
    3. White - 414,403
    4. Blue - 373,728
    5. Red - 226,501
    6. Silver - 201,008
    7. Orange - 25,723
    8. Green - 16,718
    9. Bronze - 6595
    10. Yellow - 6566

Wish they sold a more vibrant blue like they do on the fiesta st but I was happy to settle for the unano grey colour. The others never really called out to me.

For some reason VW has gone with some bland colours for the mk8, omitting red from the colour pallete was a mistake. I opted for Lime yellow, not to everyones taste but i'm happy with the colour.

I agree the options are very monotone. I had planned to get our car in Dolphin Grey, but on seeing it in person it seemed very flat despite being metallic and lacked the depth that was in Limestone Grey and Indium Grey so ended up getting Black

Maybe VW could take some inspiration from some of these:

    Range Rover Estoril Blue

    Peugeot Bronze

    Mini Electric Blue

    Mazda Soul Red Crystal

Or even some from the Volkswagen colour palette....

    Energetic Orange

    Makena Turquoise

Obviously, colour is a personal choice. Have you any suggestions for the VW paint department?

The new brochure -effective 24 Sep 20 - introduces a new metallic colour: Kings Red. Looks good - at least on the cover of the brochure.
