56 plate 3.0TDI, 125k miles, FSH. Every few months the suspension plays up, I have parts replaced and the cycle repeats itself, again.

    Background:-

    3 x roadside recoveries
2 x sets of new front struts - originals followed by German supplied Chinese, followed by Bilsteins
2 x sets of rear bags - originals followed by German supplied Chinese, followed by Dunlops
1 x new OEM Valve block, Wabco Compressor, front air lines and fixings
In and out of the best 2 x Audi VW specialists in the area by far over the last year.

    Recent issue:-

    Hardly used during lockdown.
    - Went to start and yellow light on - replaced the final Chinese rear bag with a Dunlop at Audi specialist.
    - Last week low battery warning despite recent Varta battery. Specialist replaced Battery control module.
    - Drove 400 miles to see family for first time since March
    - Next morning down at the back, both sides
    - Put jack mode on last night, down again

What else can I replace ? - rear lines, accumulator, other valves and sensors, control module ?

Can something else cause pressure loss - over pressure exposing weaknesses in lines etc ? The first rear Chinese bag had burst in the side of the rubber ?

Both Audi indies know their stuff but it seems to be trial and error. What are we all missing ?! Do I replace the rear lines and see what happens!

Hi, man that sounds expensive and disheartening.

is the compressor OK? Has the compressor fuse been replaced?
with the engine running, and compressor on, have you sprayed water at the unions where the air pipes meet the air bags? To check for leaks there. And also, on the air distributor panel? (Not sure where that is on your model, on my A8, it is above the front passenger wheel)
Any poor join will result in air bubbles.

does the car right itself once you start the engine?
    what codes does VAG-Com show?

Compressor replaced, runs fine. Valve block new.
Going into garage again but never shows fault codes - its either been leaks or blown airbags.

Now that I have already eliminated poor quality airbags by replacing them twice, what can go faulty that controls how much pressure goes to each corner? I.e. over-pressure ?

    THIS IS NUTS NOW

Garage has confirmed that a rear airbag is leaking. Including the original 2 that were on the car + 2 Chinese replacements + 2 Dunlop replacement + 1 whatever now = 7

Can anything cause excess pressure to cause failures ?

Start with good air pressure/high setting and a spray bottle of good soapy water. Start spraying outside around the repair work area first looking for bubbles, and follow the lines (they are colorful if memory serves) eventually back to the compressor and reservoir. Those plastic/nylon hoses can become brittle over time, and a hairline is sometimes hard to see.

Also, Do you know if all of the brass ferrules are there? They are very easy to break or loose, but they slide over the airline (under the nut) to seal the line at the fitting.

There are level indicators attached to the body and clipped to lower control arms via a rod.(of sorts) I'd check to see if one is jammed or out of adjustment. Possibly getting more pressure with a false lower reading than the others?

Rear airbag should still be under warranty if they were both changed recently.

Thanks all. I will have replaced the same rear airbag 3 times in a year, so it more about 'root cause' rather than getting some money back.
The compressor is almost new so is fine.

Only because they have never been replaced, I have ordered new rear pipes and connectors plus a used-but-low miles rear suspension height sensor. I have also sourced a new Bilstein OEM bag because the front ones have been fine since swapping to them.

My problem is still 'why do bags keep blowing'?
