I wanted to replace my shocks soon, they are original sets from new. Would it be advisable to change out the springs when replacing the shocks on a car of my age? Or do the springs not effect ride quality and new shocks do the trick.

I’ve owned it since 2012 so I’ve had it virtually from new. The ride quality has become pretty bad, thumpy and jarring. I was going to go OEM.

    It’s a 2009 Le Man S-Line 2.0L avant 140000 miles

    Cheers

I am thinking of doing the same too with 115k miles. I thought it might have just been in my head that it's not as comfy and frankly quite crashy. I don't think the springs will make it less comfortable, if anything they should be more compliant. New shocks should make the most difference. However, with your mileage it's probably worth changing the springs too and I'd definitely look at changing the bushes too.

I'm still trying to decide if I it's worth the cost to do it all. It'll feel like a new car again though if I did.

Soooo many snapping springs at this mileage , do both.

Eibach Pro kit springs with Bilstein B4 dampers.

Bilstein B4 are the first choice and I'd love Eibach Pro Kit springs but as my rear tyres catch ever so slightly on the extremes I don't want to go any lower than S Line height. Shame because I've heard that they're a good combo for looks and improved comfort and handling over S Line setup.

Thanks for the knowledgable reply’s. Makes sense to change everything at the same time. I think it’s worth doing if your cars otherwise trouble free.

I found some old bookmarks I made a few years ago for Elbach pro kit springs E10 - 15-008-01-22 they have a 30mm drop from standard car height se models. I think that’s the same as drop as the S-Line ride height? Those paired with the B4 dampers.

I’ll get them done soon and report back the results!

Nice, i did think bout the B12's. Think i might do the same as you then, sounds like a good result.
My wheels are 19", the diameter should be the same as your 18"s as my tyres have smaller side walls, unless i'm missing something..

B4 this wheels I had 255/35/19 no issues as well....
Don’t remember what offset was on it....

I downgraded cos the wheels where replicas and had problems with it... and 18’s have better ride quality.

Today I ordered the Eibach E10-15-008-01-22 springs, they’ll be here next week. I decided to use OEM Sachs shocks as I already had a new rear pair in a box. I just need the buy the front shocks and the top mounts. Hope they’re a good match. Looking for comfort bias rather than firm.

Planning on next week for the change over. I’ll see about going from my current 19” wheels to 18” after I check the results with the 19’s
