Planning on next week for the change over. I’ll see about going from my current 19” wheels to 18” after I check the results with the 19’s
How did you get on with this? I'm looking at changing shocks and top mounts too and looking for comfort bias too so interested to hear how yours are.

I’m waiting for a couple of parts & my mate to find some workshop time. Front assembly bolts were seized. So the job’s on hold for a few more days.
In the meantime I brought some 18” wheels. Those alone make a big difference, 245/40/18R. I wanted continental tyres which were around 40 quid cheaper per tyre. Quieter driving and I’v lost a lot of jarring from uneven road surfaces. Tyres replaced were 255/35/R19, budget tyres.

New 18” rims. Continental Premium contact 6 tyres.

    Replaced 19” rims, budget tyres.

I see, I wonder how much better it'll be with the smaller wheels and new suspension combined. I'm actually on 20s which might be the cause of most of the jarring you mention but I'm hoping new suspension components should sort some of it. The reason I'm saying the is because I'm on 245 35 20 tyres now whereas the car previously came with 255 35 19 so I've got the same profile albeit with a slight stretch and i don't remember it jarring like this when it was new and had 255 35 19s on.

It could very well be tyres. I’m aiming for new car ride quality. It’s hard to split the reasons on a car in my case it’s 11 years on the original components. I think the shocks equate to about 60% and I reckon the tyres equate to about 40% in ride quality.
I can just tell in my car the rebound damping just isn’t there. The wheels are following every road contour.
I’m not an expert on tyres. I was under the impression the side wall profile has to shrink as the the rim diameter increases. The side wall add’s damping flex.
    I’ll post again when it’s a done.

I've decided to leave the suspension alone for a bit as there's nothing wrong with them yet according to my mechanic. One of the main reasons for wanting to replace everything was because I had a changing noise from both sides at the front so I was convinced either a bush was gone or top mount etc. Anyway, it turns out to have been the brake pads rattling about in the calipers as the they aren't a great fit on the top and bottom prongs so nothing to do with the suspension after all!

Also, yes you normally go a size smaller on the sidewall if increasing the wheel size but I wanted more protection for the wheel and a comfier ride so I kept the same profile. The car is so big it doesn't look odd with 20s on 35 profile.

After all that I’ve decided to leave the springs and shocks for now too. My mate doesn’t have the correct spring compressor to remove them. Also because of the seized bolts that needed heating on the front assembly I didn’t want a huge job / repair bill for damaged parts.

I’ve changed out the brake discs and pads to Brembo on all corners instead. Stops on a dime now with only light brake pedal pressure. Great upgrade.

Yes, front vented so flat discs, no grooves.

314mm at the front 302mm at the back + matching pads. Impressed with the galvanising on the rear hub sections, they feel good quality and hopefully they’ll stay rust free. Unlike the ones that came off that looked like titanic relics. No idea what make.

Not sure why yours warped so quickly. Heat build up problem of some kind. Did you change
    new pads and discs together?

I’d have the vibration checked, could be wheel alignment out of whack. Mine were totally out of align. I also needed spigot rings, 57.1mm to 66.6 spacers for my new wheels. I had slight steering wobble at certain speeds. All sorted now.

I run spigot rings as well so my plan is new tyres first with new spigot rings and tracking... I have vibration only at braking above 120km/h so not every day driving for me anyway....
Warped disk were returned under the warranty so there must b a bad batch of them or something....
We see if new tyres make change....
