    Customer says my car is loosing power, nothing comes up on a code read and my usual garage says I need a new turbo at over £1000.

    It's all ******** for lease company running cost's. Where i work were old school, oil service every 10k full service every 20k. Customers sometimes ring up to say what have you done to my car ? It goes like it's new again.

    funny you should say that... many decades ago I was servicing a 1989 Jetta 2 16v (now a seriously rare car) owned by a dentist who lived in the sticks. When I lifted off the air box upper half and removed the filter, there was a full rodents nest in there complete with seeds and nuts. I fitted a new K&N (in those days we sold these by the van load) and a few days later he rang to say how well it was pulling.

    Yes, it was a common colour on them, this one was white and E or F plate but it is a LONG time ago. I remember his daughter (also a dentist) had an 8v GTI and at some point they swapped the cars around with each other. I bet it was nearly 30 years ago.
