Hey Poleposition. I have the same problem too. Did you manage to get any further forward and clear the codes at all?

Yes, I cleared the codes, but they come back again. I'm going to inspect the wheel speed sensor, but as Crasher said, it may be corrosion on the wheel bearing as my main fault code is "00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47) 003 - Mechanical Failure - Intermittent - MIL ON". If the sensor looks ok or shows signs of being damaged by the ABS ring of the bearing then I will be looking to get a quote to get the bearing changed by a garage. Not sure how the system works out the sensor is suffering from intermittent mechanical failure?

Thanks Crasher, I gave up in the end, after visiting an independent Audi garage today, sensor and bearing/ABS ring had to be replaced, just like you said. All fault codes now clear, thanks to everyone who helped! Hope the other 3 are not about to fail as well.
