Looking for some advice, have tried the Q7 section without a answer and as they are much the same can anyone help.. i am replacing both my air rear struts on my Q7 and wondering what is the procedure when finished obviously there is no air in the unit, doing one at a time on a jack, so after fitting back on and im on the high height mode in jack mode so i should think is take it out of jack mode first of all, do you start the car let the compressor inflate the strut as usual and let it down or do you let it down on the ground and let it fill when down, checked all the Arnott videos and they show how to do everything but this? I realize the A6 is not the same but it will be a similar procedure any ideas out there??

If it's like my A8, I would think it best to take the car off the jack to let it down on the ground. Then turn on the ignition and switch off the jack mode. The car should then attempt to level itself using the air in the accumulator, or if this has been exhausted, you will hear the compressor start up.

Thanks JohnF spoke to bagpipinganndy and he advised the following.also have decided to do it on a proper garage ramp.

If you do not have vcds diagnostic tool then Once new parts are fitted Lower the car Down, so the wheels are on the ground and The car body is low, leave the jack supports in so they still have the cars weight, but The wheel arch must sit lower than the lowest ride height or the car will not fill the strut, the car must see it’s low before it will send air to the required strut, if wheels are hanging struts will not fill

Then Once car sitting low but weight is still on the jacks go into Mmi and put it out of jack mode, The Error light will flash and Compressor should start and fill the required struts to lift the car off the jack.
