Good to hear valeo, amazed at the crap some people buy and wonder why it dosnt work
No 1 culprit for water ingress is tailgate light gaskets.
Remove the outer edge rubber grommets to let water out. Then put tape over drain holes use your rear washer loads. Then remove tape to see if any water present.

Have you checked you don't have the fractured washer supply tube? When wiper moves spray should stay still. If spray is following sweep pattern then brass pipe through pivot shaft is sheared, and leaking back into motor.

BTW, I think the feeling is that although they are OEM Valeo units are pretty poor as well.

Yes, I've already had this, and this was repaired myself about 2 years ago.

I don't actually understand what you are suggesting though.... The spray will always follow the wiper, as the spray head is fixed and integrated into the wiper mount/pivot. It has no choice but to spray water as the wiper sweeps across the screen! The wiper cannot move independently of the mount/pivot.

My understanding is this is the case since the c6 the jet followed the arm hence the two holes to squirt not a big cut out on the cap.

I'll have a look at this... Either way, I'm going to need to get a new motor, as mine is eff'd anyway, so whilst I use the old motor to experiment with sources of potential water ingress, the current motor isn't going to fix itself and start behaving properly again... :-(

When you say "remove the rubber grommets" where are these? Is there supposed to be some sort of small plug in the bottom of the tailgate plastics? Mine don't have any... Can still use the rear wash/wipe loads now though to see if it's leaking and dumping water into the tailgate cavity, and then dripping out of the tailgate plastics.

It could just be a leaking wiper motor I guess...

The water pipe feeds into the back of the unit. The water is then through the wiper motor unit itself and streams out of the very centre of the wiper arm mount. Once the wiper arm has been bolted down into the wiper arm mount, there is a push-fit nozzle that sits on the top, that swivels with the whole wiper arm as it moves. Therefore, the water spray will move with the wiper arm, as the wiper arm sweeps, as the nozzle is in a fixed position on the very top of the wiper arm mount itself.

With tailgate open, there should be 2 black rubber grommets on the underside, remove these to let water drain

Maybe it is diffeent on the A6, but on my VWs the water supply is via a central brass pipe that should be in a fixed place: always spraying onto the same part of the window. This is positioned inside (concentric to) a larger tube which is formed by the aluminium wiper arm pivot with the splined taper to hold the arm on the end, and hence moves. Dirt, corrosion, etc can cause the inner brass tube to bind to the outer aluminium one and ultimately make it shear. Much of the water will still make it across the shear, so it will still spray on window. But some will now travel back down the aluminium moving part into the motor mechanism.

Sadly, none of this is relevant to the A6. The spray head is integral to the wiper arm mount. It can only move with the mount, and can only ever spray along the wiper blade as it sweeps.
