Hi everyone, I have a 2012 Q5 with a space master spare wheel but I also have a space saver (already inflated) which I would prefer to carry. Trying this on the car I found that the original wheel bolts are not long enough. Can anyone tell me what length and taper I need to use. Thanks in advance.

Is there a part number on the inflated space saver? Standard Q5 bolts look to be 45mm long, but not listed for a space saver (except the collapsing one).

Aren't they the standard bolts for alloys? I assumed that was what OP meant by "original wheel bolts", so already has a set. OP - are the full-size wheels standard (again what part?) or aftermarket?

That is the only wheel bolt listed for all Q5's 2009 to 2019 with any factory wheel including the space saver steel rim with folding tyre.

Agreed. I was hoping that if OP can give part number of wheel we can figure it it is not suitable at all, or maybe from a nearly compatible vehicle that he might want to chance usage for really short trips to rest / repair damage. Personally I'd go for using the collaping one, and have a full size spare at home for someone to bring if failure happens close enough by. I'd also take the full size on certain trips like overseas touring. Very handy if on long haul back to ferry, etc.

Hi guys. Haven’t checked spare wheel for part number yet as at work but was thinking is it possible that when I tried it on it might not have fitted over hub nut assembly properly being too small. I tried it on the front only because I was more concerned about it clearing the caliper. Car is 2012 s line plus on 20 inch wheels.

Ensuring that the wheel centre fits snuggly to the hub boss, sits flat, has right offset, etc are all points to check.
