I want to smarten up the wheel trims on my wife's 2000 Mk 4. They have that slight sparkle in the silver paint and I am struggling to find a match. Is there a spray paint available that will match the original? The trims are in decent condtion, just a few scuffs. I want to touch up the existing paint rather than full respray.

Metallic paint is almost impossible to touch up with a brush, it would be better to high build prime the scuffs, Scotch Brite the trim down all over and give it a coat of wheel silver. If you want to add a little extra, a coat of clear lacquer and this can all be done with aerosols.

    Hi Crasher,
I had intended sanding off the top coat with very high grade wet n dry, touching up the scuffed bits and then applying clear coat. If finding the correct paint is difficult, I'll just respray completely, having masked off the badge. I just think the metallic flake effect of the original paint look better than a flat silver finish.

Possibly VW colour code 091 Chrome colours, aerosol part number 009 104 and £16 for a 400ml can.
