is the mk7 gti 2013 on the mqb platform gen 3 of the EA888? i had timing tensioner issues on my old mk6 and i heard about the new mk7s not having these issues as the mk6s. in the market for one and im looking at a 2013 model and when it comes to looking at different cars with different mileages when should the timing chain be changed? i also hear about turbo failures on these? are they common on the 2013

The EA888 Gen 3 seems to be much more reliable on the timing chains, the early ones were a joke. The secret is 9300 mile oil changes but I would still replace the system at 100K. When starting up after an oil and filter chnage, you can get an idea of chain wear by looking at the colour of the mechanics face, if all the blood has drained away and they are shaking the then is a lot of wear.
