Recently purchased a used Q7 4L rear view camera kit including a CP free 2g MMI box part number 4L0035729A, I fitted it successfully and now it only needs calibrated but it still works, however when I went to code the MMI I noticed the SW number on VCDS (4F0910732T) was different than what was actually on the unit itself (4L0910729F), Also when i went to code it the only option was for a A6/S6/RS6? (see pics) And no mention of the Q7? So am I right in saying whoever removed the CP the unit has put different software in the MMI? also noticed on the unit it was dated 2005 and the Q7 production didn’t start till 2006. so its not from a Q7! So my question is, can I get this unit software changed for a Q7 4L or am i stuck with it? help please.

Only just seen this but possibly too late to help you.

You're right; theControl Head was originally built for a Q7 [4L0 part number for software] and it's been replaced with A6 software [4F0 part number]. VCDS works off the SW part number, so that's why you've only got A6 options for coding.

Yes, you're 'stuck with it' unless you can get away by defining it with A6 options.

And BTW, Q7 were built from Nov 2015 so the unit is an early one from December of that year.
