    Hi,

I very recently got behind the wheel of my first Audi (I am a reformed BMW driver that has seen the light!! :-) ) and I must admit I LOVE the car - it's a 52 plate A4 2.4 (petrol) Sport soft-top.

I have sorted out a few little niggles but I have one issue remaining and I just can't seem to find the right part anywhere - here's a pic:
    tail pic.jpg
So, I only have one number plate light which only works if I give it a tap, and that only seems to work for a while. And as you can see, the hole where the other one was is a bit of a mess.

I'm no expert but it looks like putting replacements in should be straightforward enough if I was able to totally remove both knackered lights but I'm guessing I'll need to take the whole tail unit off as I can't see how I'm going to clear that godawful mess of a hole. Plus the screw in the remaining light is shot so getting that one out may be a problem too.

I've looked on various breaker sites/Ebay/etc to see if I can buy a replacement panel(?) but they seem impossible to find and it doesn't help that I can't find a part number anywhere...

Any help would be hugely appreciated, folks :-)

8E0807430A and ...B for left and right lamp units respectively. 8E0827576 for the housing.

For the screw that remains give it a good shot of PlusGas penetrating fluid a day or so before trying. Then good, undamaged screwdriver bit pushed in really tight and hopefully it'll come out cleanly.

Iif you remove the boot lid lining you should be able to see a couple of nuts to undo, and maybe have to remove lock barrel as well.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. Really helpful!! :-)

I will try to get the knackered lights out first and see what the state of play is with the housing - would prefer not to have to pay nearly £100 for a new housing if I can help it. Hopefully I'll be able to just pop some new ones in without too much fannying about lol

I think with new lens in it'll look a lot tidier. All the what looks like aluminum corrosion makes me think there may have been water in there, which may also be affecting the on/off bulb and general electrical condition (copper corrosion, etc). So get it out and inspect is my suggestion.

There is also a plastic version 8E0827574C which was switched to on NON-cabriolet post-2004 and used across A3, A4, A5, A6 and A8 - should be quite easy to find. Looks like it has a different boot release switch so you'd want a complete 2nd hand set. Not clear why it wasn't switched to on cabriolet, so a bit of buyer beware on that one but may be cheap enough to try out - and you'll at least get the lamp lenses .
